The New Madrid Police Department has announced the arrest of a registered sex offender on sodomy and kidnapping charges. The PD reports that on July 23rd officers were called to a house in New Madrid and arrested Eric Banks.
Banks is in the Mississippi County Jail awaiting trial. Police allege that in the short time he has been living in New Madrid, Banks has been frequenting city parks in an attempt to communicate with teenage boys. At this point in the investigation only one victim has been identified, but it is possible that Banks may have other victims who have not come forward.
