The Caruthersville Humane Society has announced the date for the 17th Annual John VanAusdall Memorial 5K Run/2 Mile Walk for the animals. The major fund raiser for the society is set for Saturday, April 29. Registration for the race begins at 7:30 a.m. at the Caruthersville Public Library and the race will start at 8 a.m.
CHS Director Karol Wilcox says the shelter has experienced a dramatic increase in intakes, especially neglected and abused animals, and vet bills have nearly doubled over the past year. Thus, the fundraiser is critical.
The Humane Society is seeking sponsors for the race. There are five levels from “Friend” to “Platinum.”
Preregistration is underway. Registration now is $25 and increases to $30 on the day of the race.
