It’s traditional that the first Kennett City Council meeting after the April election is pretty routine and last night was no exception. It’s a time to say goodbye to outgoing members and to swear in new ones. Goodbyes were said to just one – Ward 5 Councilman Bill Palmer, who did not seek re-election.

Mayor Crafton commended those newly elected.

It didn’t hurt that three of the four incumbents were unopposed. Ward 1 Council member Lisa Dry was the only one who faced a re-election race.

Dry, Mark Bryant in Ward 2, Harry Gaddis in Ward 3, and Dennis Pelts in Ward 4 were sworn in for another term. The new councilman sworn in was Jimmy French in Ward 5.
