
In West Tennessee, the Crockett County Sheriff’s Department is reporting the successful apprehension of a motorist who led law enforcement on a dangerous and reckless pursuit spanning multiple counties. The incident began yesterday afternoon when deputies from the Dyer County Sheriff’s Office observed a vehicle driving erratically and exhibiting signs of reckless behavior on Highway 51 between Newbern and Dyersburg.
Dyer County deputies initiated a traffic stop, however, the suspect failed to comply and fled the scene, leading Crockett County deputies to engage in pursuit as well. The suspect’s reckless actions escalated when he attempted to collide with a Tennessee Highway Patrol vehicle.
Through coordinated efforts, Crockett County deputies and the Tennessee Highway Patrol were able to successfully stop the suspect’s vehicle on Highway 412 near Highway 70/79. The motorist, 36 year old Eddie Ray Patterson, was taken into custody. He faces multiple charges.
