Kennett City Council voted this week to consolidate the KPD dispatch with 911 at the Dunklin County Justice Center. Councilman Dennis Pelts explained that the $250,000 contract with Dunklin County 911 will allow about $150,000 more to go into the KPD budget. There will be no job loss. One person will stay at City Hall and the rest who man dispatch will go to the Justice Center.
Councilman James Waynick expressed his opposition.
Ultimately the Council voted 7-3 to approve the move.
